    It is situated in the upper part of Indus valley, Shey is known for the shey complex and Shey monastery and summer palace of the kings of Ladakh. Beautiful landscape, awesome scenery would be the two adjectives for the place. The summer palace was built by King of Ladakh 550 years ago and it houses the biggest gold-plated statue of Buddha in entire Ladakh.

  • Thiksey

    Thiksey

    Thiksey is a small town situated on the top of a hill 19 km away from Ladakh and it is acclaimed for Thiksey Buddhist monastery which resembles with the one in Lhasa, Tibet. This monastery is 12 storey building having Thangka, Stupas, statues, swords related to Buddhist religion. Here you are advised to visit during June to the month of September as after September snowfall starts.

    Tso Moriri

    Tso Moriri is the name of one of the highest altitude lake in country. Tso Moriri is said to be the heaven on the Earth. The scenery, the landscape and the beautiful lake would surely leave you awestruck. You would find black necked cranes, Tibetan Gazzelle and several other animals which dwell in their natural conditions. Jeep safaris are there to facilitate you with the sightseeing of this region.

    Lamayuru

    Lamayuru is another small region in Ladakh which was said to be earlier a valley filled with lake and Buddhist yogi. Maharishi Naropa dried it up and later on it was covered with rocks. Maharishi Naropa then went ahead to built monastery known as Lamayuru Gompa. This monastery is one of the largest monasteries in Ladakh and it has around 200 residing Buddhist monks.

  • Alchi

    Alchi

    This is one another small town in Ladakh and it is a part of amalgamation of various small villages. It is located on the banks of river Indus. This town has a famous group of temples out of which Alchi monastery is the oldest and it is the only monastery which is situated at a lower altitude in the entire Ladakh. You have to visit this place with your own conveyance as the public transport is quite tough to find.
