    The Jaisalmer Fort

    It is a major point of attraction and it is one of the biggest fortifications of the world. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and it is located in the heart of the city. It was built by Rawal Jaisal and is also known as golden fort because of its color. The city played a crucial role in trade &commerce in earlier days and during that era, the entire population lived within the fort and gradually with increase in population the city flourished further.

  • The Thar Heritage museum

    The Thar Heritage museum

    It is owned by L.M.Khatri and he himself takes you a way around the museum. There is a vast collection of photographs of the desert life and I’m sure you will enjoy the visit to the museum. The artifacts preserved over here are worth watching. The museum displays ancient coins, manuscripts and ancient weapons. During the evenings the museum hosts the famous puppet show of Jaisalmer.

  • Kuldhara Village

    Kuldhara Village

    If you are adventurous and believe in ghosts then you must visit Kuldhara village. It’s an abandoned village since the early 1800s in the city outskirts and it is said that the village is haunted & whoever tries to dwell in this village eventually dies. There are several stories about the Paliwals who once dwelled in the village and later due to several reasons, they all left the village overnight and since then no one stays here and it is said to be haunted.

  • Tanot Mata

    Tanot Mata

    This is a temple situated about 150 km away from Jaisalmer. The temple is very close to Pakistan border and this area has oil and gas reserves. This temple has special significance as during the Indo-Pak war in 1965, Pakistani army dropped various bombs on this temple but not even a single bomb exploded. The temple is now managed by BSF and it houses a museum which displays a collection of unexploded bombs by Pakistan army.

  • Nathmalji ki Haweli

    Nathmalji ki Haweli

    This monument is situated in the heart of the city and it was the residence of Maharawal Beli Sal, who was the PM of Jaisalmer and the architects were the two brothers Hathi and Lulu. This monument is great work of art and the architecture is a mix of Indian and Islamic art. It is believed that the two brothers had a great imaginative power and sense of erecting the buildings without even seeing it.
